What is the Boys' Brigade?
The Boys' Brigade is a Christian youth organisation founded by Sir William Alexander Smith
in Glasgow, Scotland, in 1883. From it's small beginnings in Glasgow
the Boys' Brigade has spread all over the world.

About the founder - Sir William Alexander Smith
William Smith was born on the 27th October 1854, in Thurso, Scotland.
In 1886 Smith founded the Boys' Brigade, and the 1st Glasgow Company was set up (of which he was Captain).
In 1887 Smith took up the role as Brigade Secretary.
Smith went as far as Canada and America to promote the work of the Boys' Brigade.
In 1909 William Smith was knighted by King Edward VII for his service to boys.
Sir William Smith died on the 10th May 1914 and was buried in Glasgow.
Object of the Boys' Brigade
The advancement of Christ's Kingdom among boys and the promotion of habits of obedience,
reverence, discipline, self-respect and all that tends towards a true Christian manliness.
